Without affecting your operations, they can listen for telltale signs of developing problems, such as corona, high voltage discharge, arcing and tracking.
In medium and high voltage situations, ultrasonic technology allows us to find tracking on the outside of a cable or tracking over an insulator. The ultrasonic instrument detects sound outside the range of human hearing—such as high frequency popping and cracking—and pinpoints the exact location. If not caught and repaired early, these anomalies can destroy the insulator or jacket of the cable and result in a breakdown or explosion.
