VMEbus

A combination of high performance, rugged, modular construction and broad industry support makes VMEbus products ideal to address the needs of original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) serving embedded computing markets.

As part of the group of innovative companies that invented the VMEbus over 20 years ago, we have consistently worked to enhance and extend VMEbus technology. This process continues with the 2eSST technology which boosts the performance and capability of VMEbus technology while maintaining compatibility with existing systems over long product lifecycles.

Our VME products are designed to the latest VMEbus specifications and are supported by an extensive range of compatible hardware and software from Emerson and our industry alliance members. This ecosystem, together with a worldwide sales and support network, helps to rapidly integrate the optimum solutions into customer end applications.

The Emerson Network Power MVME2500 single-board computer (SBC) features the latest Freescale QorIQ™ processors -- the single-core P2010 and dual-core P2020. The e500 v2 core QorIQ processor uses 45 nanometer technology which delivers an industry-leading performance-to-power ratio with single-core or dual-core frequencies up to 1.2 GHz at less than 8W. This is a perfect migration path for our PowerQUICC processor boards (MVME3100 and MVME4100), as well as our G4 processor boards (MVME5100 and MVME5110).
Featuring Intel® Core™ i7 processor variants up to 2.0 GHz and the mobile Intel® QM57 Express chipset, Emerson Network Power’s new iVME7210 is designed for a range of industrial, medical and military/aerospace applications including robotics, image processing, radar/sonar, C4ISR and signal intelligence. On-board memory includes up to 8GB DDR3 memory and 256KB non-volatile Ferroelectric Random Access Memory (FeRAM).
The MVME4100 single-board computer from Emerson Network Power incorporates the fastest Freescale 8548E processor, industry-leading storage options, extensive I/O and flexible expansion options including an on-board PMC site and up to four optional XMC sites via expansion cards.
The Emerson Network Power MVME7100, one of the first VMEbus products with the system-on-chip MPC864xD processor, offers a growth path for VMEbus customers with applications on the previous generation of VME, specifically the MPC74xx processors. The system-on-chip implementation offers power/thermal, reliability, and lifecycle advantages not typically found in alternative architectures.
The Emerson Network Power MVME3100 SBC helps OEMs of industrial, medical, and defense/aerospace VMEbus platforms add performance and features for competitive advantage while still protecting the fundamental investment in VMEbus and related technologies. Customers can keep their VMEbus infrastructure (chassis, backplanes, and other VMEbus and PMC boards) while improving performance and extending the lifecycle. Also, the extended lifecycle of Emerson computing products helps reduce churns in development and support efforts resulting from frequent product changes.
The MVME6100 series is the first VMEbus single-board computer (SBC) designed with the Tundra Tsi148 VMEbus interface chip offering two edge source synchronous transfer (2eSST) VMEbus performance. The 2eSST protocol enables the VMEbus to run at a practical bandwidth of 320MB/s in most cases. The MVME6100 is designed to meet the needs of OEMs servicing the defense and aerospace, industrial automation and medical imaging market segments.
The MVME5500 series is designed to meet the needs of OEMs including those in defense and aerospace, industrial automation and medical imaging market segments. Customers looking for a technology refresh for their application while maintaining backward compatibility with their existing VMEbus infrastructure can upgrade to the MVME5500 series and take advantage of the enhanced performance features.
The Emerson Network Power MVME5100 series is the flagship of the Emerson PowerPlus II VME Architecture line, enabling supercomputing levels of performance in a single VMEbus slot. Based on an integrated PCI bridge-memory controller ASIC, PowerPlus II takes memory performance to new levels with 582MB/s memory read bandwidth and 640MB/s burst write bandwidth.
The Emerson Network Power XMCspan board allows users to customize and expand I/O options when coupled with Emerson’s MVME7100 and MVME4100 single-board computers (SBCs). When two XMCspan boards are coupled with an Emerson MVME7100 or MVME4100, the XMCspan boards add up to four single-wide XMC slots, or four single-wide PCI Mezzanine Cards (PMCs) slots, or two double-wide XMC slots, or two double-wide PMC slots, or a combination of both XMC modules and PMC modules.
The PMCspan board allows users to customize their exact I/O requirements with Emerson Network Power's VME based CPU modules designed around the PowerPlus Architecture.
