The Basic Blade Services (BBS) software packages offered by Emerson Network Power provide a set of unique services that support the AdvancedTCA^® (ATCA) blade on which the software is installed. It provides a higher level of abstraction for various platform specific services and utilities to enable enhanced portability and accelerated integration times.

BBS includes a carrier-grade operating system and several custom hardware management functions for the unique hardware of the blade. It also includes a set of management routines to Linux management capabilities and to any hardware interfaces. Management access includes support for SNMP as well as a local console interface based on a standard Linux command shell.

BBS services include a common set of functionality which is available for all Emerson ATCA blades, and a unique set of functionality which is tailored to a particular blade.
