Columbus, Ohio [August 14, 2012] – Emerson Network Power, a business of Emerson (NYSE:EMR) and a global leader in maximizing availability, capacity and efficiency of critical infrastructure, today introduced the Liebert PPC second generation power conditioning and distribution system to provide flexible, high-quality data center power distribution and monitoring in a packaged system that reduces installation time and cost. The Liebert PPC second generation power conditioning and distribution system is available for 50 and 60 Hz applications in North America, Latin America and Asia.
Built on a proven system design used in thousands of installations, the Liebert PPC second generation distribution cabinet offers the benefits of a custom-tailored power system, with the convenience and cost savings of a pre-packaged, factory-tested unit. Housed in a single, self-contained cabinet, it combines distribution, computer-grade grounding, isolation and power monitoring to provide the conditioned power needed for critical data centers. The system offers a variety of panel board options, including 54 and 72 poles at 400A and 42 poles at 225A. It can be paired with the Liebert EXC second generation expansion cabinet to add up to four additional panel boards.
The Liebert PPC second generation single input cable connection reduces installation time, while the compact cabinet design reduces space requirements and cost compared to a conventional approach with multiple interconnected components. The integrated TP-1 Listed isolation transformer enables greater efficiency than standard transformers. The system establishes a single point ground for the critical load to meet major manufacturers’ recommendations and the requirements of the National Electric Code.
Unlike one-of-a-kind, built-up distribution constructed at the site, the Liebert PPC second generation undergoes thorough factory testing as a complete system to assure reliable, consistent performance.
“Today’s power distribution systems have to be efficient and flexible while ensuring consistently high power quality,” said Peter Panfil, vice president of global power, Emerson Network Power. “The Liebert PPC second generation distribution cabinet delivers a high level of power quality effectiveness at a lower cost than conventional built-up systems. Improved panelboard expansion capabilities and branch circuit monitoring make the system flexible and user-friendly, while the power conditioning and distribution design ensure reliability and availability. Data center managers save valuable floor space in their crowded data center while increasing the efficiency of their power distribution system.”
Integral LCD display options enable comprehensive advanced monitoring for visibility to panelboard or branch circuit operating information, such as voltage, current, kVA, KW, percent load and more. The system also is compatible with Liebert SiteScan® Web monitoring, allowing single point monitoring and alarm of power conditions with reporting to a remote or centralized location. The Liebert PPC second generation also has the ability to output data directly to a building management system.
Available in 15-225kVA capacity systems for raised floor applications, the Liebert PPC second generation is also available at the same capacity range in top-exit models for non-raised floor applications. The top-exit model places the input and output conduit connections at the top of the unit, bringing the benefit of high quality packaged power systems to non-raised floor applications.
To further reduce the footprint and heat in the data center, units with capacity of 300kVA, 430kVA and 800kVA that contain I-Line panel boards may be installed remote from the data center, and connected to remote distribution cabinets located on the raised floor.
