PMC

Our range of PCI Mezzanine Card (PMC) building block products provide the flexibility to easily expand I/O functionality and performance within an embedded computer system.

PMC Module Products

The PMC’s standard PCI electrical interface, combined with a rugged mechanical mounting and reliable electrical connectors, enable it to work reliably in more applications than ordinary commercial-grade PCI modules. The extremely popular single PMC (74 mm by 149 mm) is the perfect size for a wide range of I/O functions, as well as for more complex interfaces such as ATM or T1/E1 – as demonstrated by the rapidly increasing use of PMC communications adapters within the telecom industry.

Processor PMC

A decrease in the space occupied by the processing core devices, resulting from the integration of the central processing unit (CPU), memory controllers and bridges into a single chip, provided the opportunity for the implementation of a new class of processing module called a Processor PMC (PrPMC). The VITA 32 Processor PMC standard specifies this new PrPMC macro component. It redefines 15 of the PMC interface signals to support the PrPMC as a master and target CPU rather than simply as an I/O device. A tall option is added to accommodate heat sinks and support higher device power dissipation.

Two basic system architectures are possible using Processor PMCs. One architecture uses the PrPMC as a host CPU, which is connected to a baseboard full of PCI-based I/O interfaces. A second architecture uses the Processor PMC as an additional CPU.

Protect yourself from obsolescene issues with the Pm8540 high performance processor subsytem's easy upgrade path, Carrier Grade Linux support and long service life. Its integrated processor and I/O is also designed to meet system and blade control requirements of hardened telecom applications.
The Pm8560 includes a reduced media-independent interface on Pn3 for Ethernet PHYs and management interface. It also features E1/T1/J1 physical connectivity spans via rear transition modules that interface from either 2.16/cPSB blades or AdvancedTCA blades such as Emerson’s Katana product line.
The PrPMC2750 is a high performance, high quality PowerPC® processor PCI mezzanine card in a module form factor for space constrained industrial control, communications, benign defense and aerospace, and other demanding applications.
The PrPMC2800 is a high-performance symmetric multiprocessing platform for industrial control, communications, medical, defense and aerospace, and other demanding real-time applications. It offers the advantage of solutions with flexibility, reliability and longevity.
Built-in Marvel Discovery III system controller, with its feature-rich functionality, adds performance value to PrPMC6001’s end applications. It supports hard real-time applications using VxWorks RTOSs and cost-conscious applications with the Linux OS.
PrPMC800 series is the ideal solution when time-to-market and flexibility are important. This PMC module includes a full-length heatsink, creating a CPU package capable of handling the thermal requirements of complex tasks.
PrPMC8150 processor is the evolutionary upgrade for applications that demand more performance from the PrPMC8000 family. It features a PowerPC 750FX processor up to 800 MHz, up to 64MB of flash, up to 512MB of on-board memory, optional Gigabit Ethernet, and optional frontpanel or rear P14 I/O.
The PMCspan board allows users to customize their exact I/O requirements with Emerson Network Power's VME based CPU modules designed around the PowerPlus Architecture. Each PMCspan supports either two single-wide or one double-wide PCI Mezzanine Card.
PPCBug is the command-driven user-interactive software at the heart of our popular PowerPlus Architecture boards.
PmPPC440 complete processor subsystem is designed to allow communication equipment manufacturers to add modular and upgradeable functionality to their I/O baseboard. It features an AMCC PowerPC® 440GP processor running at 400MHz.
Built to ensure maximum flexibilty, the PmPPC7448 can be used in Processor PMC Monarch and Non-Monarch modes depending on the application or baseboard. Features include up  to 1.4GHz PowerPC® and up to 2GB SDRAM in SODIMM packaging.
Featuring a PowerPC 750FX processor, the PmPPC750f is designed to allow communication equipment manufacturers to add modular and upgradeable compute functionality to their I/O baseboard, and an easy upgrade path protects you from obsolescence issues.
