Service Entrance

A household service entrance refers to the wiring that connects the electric utility's cables in the street, through the meter and to a main service panel inside the house. High-voltage transients, such as lightning or grid switching, can cause catastrophic damage to the service panel and to the sensitive home electronics inside (home theaters, computers, TVs, appliances). Emerson Network Power recommends surge protection be installed at the service entrance and on each individual piece of equipment as well.
